Hola chicas, I’m currently on my flight back to England from Las Vegas and thought I’d put together a list of my favourite carry on beauty items which help me through long haul flights! It’s also a mega weird flight because it’s currently my birthday in the UK which means I get a 36 hour birthday wahoo! The air in a plane is mega drying and germs spread around a lot quicker so it’s vital to invest in some skincare time if you care about how it’ll look on the other side!
MARIO BADESCU ROSE WATER
This mist spray is a long time favourite of mine and always pops up on my beauty faves lists. It’s perfect for rehydrating throughout a flight and feels so refreshing. I’ve even gotten my guy friends onto it because of it’s hangover relieving properties (hangover removal not guaranteed.) The one shame is that at 118ml it can’t be took onto a plane in it’s original bottle but it’s definitely worth transferring into a smaller spritzer bottle. (Please make a travel sized Mario!)
ULTRA HYDRATING SHEET MASK – SNAIL
After reading a wonderful book by Charlotte Cho, my skin care routine has changed majorly. I’m very much into K-beauty (that’s Korean beauty) right now. Sheet masks are a staple in Korean beauty culture and they are the perfect way to inject your skin with moisture conveniently. Simply remove your chosen mask and allow it to rest on your face for 20 minutes and you’re good to go. Prepare yourself for questionable looks from fellow passengers and cabin crew but realistically you won’t see these people again so as long as you don’t mind being tweeted about you’re abso fine! A favourite of mine for flights is a snail mask. As gross as it sounds, a wonder product used in korea to brighten, tighten and dew up your skin. It’s extremely hydrating so my choice of mask to fly with.
As well as your skin drying out on a flight, your lips can do so easily too. I find that most lip balms tend to dry my lips out further (vaseline) or make them sting (palmers.) This time I tried a vanilla carmex stick and it’s certainly done the job. Arriving at your destination and applying your lipstick with cracked or flaking lips from the flight is certainly not a good look so definitely invest in a small miracle like this carmex one.
Oh collagen eye masks you are my favourite thing in the world. Many a times have these precious little slabs of goo saved me. They’re my go to after crying all night, staying up all night, whether it’s too much wine or too much kush, these bad boys will keep you going for at least another 12 hours. The miracle patches work wonders on dark circles and puffy eyes and feel GOD DAMN AMAZING when they are on. They are like small cool hugs on your tiny face. I love these anatomical ones and use them around 40 mins before landing so that my eyes are nice and bright upon arrival. Especially if you’re heading straight to the club.
OIL BASED TONER
Despite everything you think of the word “oil” when it comes to skincare, it’s not necessarily always bad! Using an oil based cleanser/toner before a water based cleanser will reap far more benefits than you could have imagined. Oil attracts oil in that it will draw all those nasty impurities out that have gathered on the plane. As well as this, it’ll give that extra bit of hydration when the air-con has dried you all out. I’m currently loving this Buddha Beauty Facial Oil which has added essential oils which are really soothing to use on a plane journey to chill you out.
Once you’ve arrived at your destination, dry out any spots that have occurred with this solution! Be sure to read the directions of how to apply!
I can’t remove my makeup with anything but Micellar water these days. Gone are the days of the makeup wipe which only push the dirt around your face further. (Unless I’m really pissed soz) Use this after using your oil product around 20 minutes after!
