Over the May Bank Holiday, I celebrated my Mums birthday in the beautiful Roma. I have travelled to many places in Europe however this was my first time in Italy. I was mega excited because I love everything about the Italian culture. From the food, the fashion and the film, Italian culture is rife all over the world and influences all these things internationally. Rome is an incredible place. I even made the bold statement that I preferred it to Paris! The buildings and architecture are breathtaking and completely one of a kind. The terracotta city made me feel as though I was part of the Kings Landing set which made reading GOT all the more exciting there. The FOOD was everything i’d dreamt of and more. I go to Dubai on saturday so I probably shouldn’t have indulged on so much pizza and gelato but alas, “When in Rome.” The Coliseum felt like another world it was so crazy to see in all its glory. I am eager to learn a lot more about Rome’s history so if anyone has any film/book recommendations that would be great!
The only mishap we encountered was being denied entry from The Vatican. When I say denied entry, I mean removal. After queueing in the heat for over an hour, I was feeling ready and blessed to be going into St. Peters Basilica. After passing through two sets of security I got into the Cathedral and was approached by a power trippin’ staff member who told me my dress was too short and I had to leave. My dad (the devote Catholic) questioned the man and tried to reason with him in which he responded by telling my Dad to read the bible because Jesus would not want to see me! RUDE! Everyone knows that Jesus loves all! So yeah it was quite the comical scene after the initial anger of insult died down. So yeah, another disastorous outing that could only happen to me! I wouldn’t mind but my brother and many others were wearing shorts the same length! I’m definitely going to write to the Pope to express my concerns with his rude staff members. I’ve attatched a few photos from the trip below in which you can see my fashion choices throughout the holiday. If your planning on a city break I highly recommend it be Rome! There’s no place like it on earth.
