Tonight is the night of the 2015 Met Gala. This Costume Institute Benefit Gala is annually held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and guests are expected to dress up with the theme of the evening in mind. This year the theme being “China: Through The Looking Glass.” Nothing angers me more than seeing the invitees avoid following the theme. It’s not cool, you might look good but nobody cares. Well at least I don’t. It is very entertaining and visually pleasing to see the fashion icons and celebrities dress up and personalities tend to shine through on this particular red carpet. It’s always fun to see who will go that extra mile and who will wear what they want because they are arseholes.
Queen Mary Kate and Queen Ashley. I’m gonna say yeah they follow the theme pretty well. With both the wrap detail and the thicker belt tie you can see the Chinese influence. I also love that they’ve still stuck to all black. I have seen a lot of negative comments on twitter tonight about their look with particular attention on their skin and faces. I even saw someone say “The Olsen Twins are wearing death tonight.” Lol. They do seem to be looking a lot more aged these days though and at 28 I feel that’s not really right.
Lily Collins looks extra adorable on the Red Carpet tonight! Her makeup and hair net are SO right for the night and it’s as if Chanel was made for her to wear! Love Love Love. Hun alert.
Aw. I’m such a fan of Kris Jenners effort tonight. She made a safe bet wearing Balmain. A comfortable and obvious choice for her but it paid off. The neck and waist belt were just right for the theme, as were her earrings. and the dress’s wrapping detail. I think that the arms on the dress could have done with slightly more tailoring but overall she looks really nice. Her hair is a little bit extreme but hey if you can’t have extreme hair at the Met Ball then where CAN you have it?
Another lady in red this evening (red is definitely the colour of the night here.) I have to say I’m really not a fan of this look. I like the use of the hair net with that cat eye but the rest of it doesn’t do it for me. I personally think this H&M dress could do with being a bit shorter for it to make the statement it needs. The tie bowed shoes I can deal with (would LOVE worn with most other things) but the earrings with all the other detail are far too much for me. It’s a disappointing look from Vanessa Hudgens!
Emma Roberts was a breath of fresh air in this green silk Ralph Lauren gown. I love the way is been styled on her and the cut out shoulder makes it more her age too. She really stands out in a sea of red which is obviously a great thing!
Aghhhh another disappointing look for me. I usually love Chloe Moretz in Chanel but i’m really not feeling it tonight! I don’t think the choker looks great with it and feel it really cheapens the dress. Love her bag though.
OMGaahhhhd Selena Gomez I love you! She looks so so gorge in this Vera Wang gown and that flower crown is perfect on her! Her red lip keeps her classic latin look whilst the white of her dress shows off her amazing curves! She’s had a AWFUL few weeks in the press being called fat! CAN U BELIEVE IT. People are so horrible. She has an unbelievable bod and anyone that thinks otherwise is clearly deluded! Theres gonna be a few awkward run in’s with her ex boyfriend and ex best friends tonight so I’m glad she looks really fab. Selena was accompanied by Vera Wang herself tonight.
Yes Georgia May Jagger looks fab in this dress tonight. A perfect look for her and the theme!
Rosie Huntington Whitely literally looks like a bottle of Jean Paul Gaultier Classique. Like in a good way obviously. She is an actual Godess. Twitter are going crazy this evening for Rosie. The dress is of course, Versace. Imagine being her though.
Karen Elson arrives in one of my favourite looks tonight! As in I want to wear this outfit everyday of my life. It’s everything and more from Dolce & Gabbana. Stefano Gabbana is one of my favourite designers and i’m just obsessed with everything about this look!
I love this Roberto Cavalli dress on Kim. The contrast between the delicacy of the dress and the density of the train creates a really intense look and her simple hair and makeup compliment that. HOWEVER. People are talking about the big comparison to one of Beyonces previous Gala looks! Is she wrong to copy B’s look? And if so, aren’t we all guilty of using Queen Bey as inspiration some (all) of the time?)
Zendeyas look gives me life. It’s literally unreal. Her Crown! The train! The Skirt! I always look forward to seeing which direction she’ll go in on the red carpet and she’s totally slayed tonight! She deserves the crown she is wearing.
J-Law looks her lovely self in Dior. Another obvious choice but still, she looks gorge. I feel like she’s just well happy because she can wear a top bun and not be frowned upon because it’s the Met Gala. I don’t care for her lipstick or jewels but i love the contrast on her dress!
SJP is wearing a H&M gown tonight and absolutely KILLING the theme. She is Queen of the Met Gala. Always. I mean come on look at that headdress. She deserves the title.
When Kim thinks she’s killed the train and then Rihanna turns up. LOL. Rihanna looks fucking mint and I refuse to see any scrambled egg pictures. She looks like Princess Belle in an alternate universe. This Guo Pei cape couldn’t be worn by anybody else!
Kendall looks like a dream in this Jade Green crystal custom Calvin Klein dress. Definitely the best look from the kardashian/jenners tonight. I’m in love with her makeup! She looks like a doll! So gorge.
It’s a battle of the custom Topshop between Emily Ratajkowski and Hailey Baldwin tonight. Both very similar looks, especially with Haileys new brunette look. I think she looks a lot better with it? She looks a lot more high fashion than she did with blonde hair but that’s just my opinion! What do you think? Who wore Topshop better?
Okay so let’s end with Anne Hathaway. This text from my friend Heaven is all that needs to be said.
